Peggy Day is a co-founder of DarkSky West Marin, a retired ER nurse, and grandmother to seven West Marin children. She served on the Papermill Creek Children’s Corner and Tomales Bay Watershed Council Boards of Directors, overseeing mission fulfillment, financial plans, and human resources. She volunteered with Papermill Creek, CMCM TV, KWMR Radio, Community Land Trust of West Marin (CLAM), and Safe Routes to School. After retiring from nursing, she taught at-risk adolescents for the Mill Valley Film Festival. She is a recent vice president of the Pont Reyes Station Village Association.
Don Jolley is a long-time resident of West Marin and has served for over three decades as a teacher of Math and Sciences at the Bolinas School. He has extensive experience in outdoor education, having led over fifty expeditions to the eastern Sierra and Western Interior to study geology and Earth’s history as preserved in the fossil record.
Don has hiked under stars for 30 years, long before moon hikes. He practices naked-eye astronomy, maps stars, and makes the celestial world visible by constructing his own planispheric astrolabe and sharing it with students.
